YME hosts a multitude of events throughout the year catered towards Malaysian Youth interested in STEM. Planned and held in support of Pre-University and University level students, YME strives to provide exceptional opportunities allowing for a deeper understanding into various STEM fields and aiding students in the preparation for both University and working life.

Young Malaysian Engineers (YME) successfully hosted YMExplorer, a dynamic and interactive Technical Interviews & CV Workshop held via Zoom. The two-and-a-half-hour session was completely free of charge and open to students passionate about building their careers in STEM.
The workshop featured the renowned PakTam Nizam Ahmad, founder of Graduate Readiness for Employment and Apprenticeship Training (GREAT), who shared invaluable insights into technical interviews, CV writing, and personal branding. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker, gaining practical tips and advice tailored to the current job landscape.
With strong engagement and positive feedback, YMExplorer 2024 proved to be a transformative experience for aspiring engineers, equipping them with the tools and confidence to take their career journey to the next level.

Career Conversation with Gamuda

Teatime with Gamuda is a relaxed and insightful networking event designed for students to explore exciting career opportunities with one of Malaysia’s leading engineering and infrastructure companies. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of Gamuda’s innovative projects, learn about its Internship and Scholarship Programmes, and discover potential pathways as fresh graduates. With the chance to engage directly with Gamuda’s HR and management team over tea and snacks, this session offers the perfect blend of professional insight and casual conversation. Providing a great first step toward a rewarding future with Gamuda.

PythAI Workshop

PYME: PythAI Workshop was a 1-day immersive event led by Ms. Leong Lai Fong, an experienced full-stack web developer. Held at HELP International School, the workshop introduced participants to the foundations of Python programming through a mix of engaging lectures and interactive coding challenges. It was designed to help attendees build strong fundamental skills and apply them in problem-solving scenarios.

The event featured sessions focused on the basics of Python syntax, logic building, and hands-on coding exercises, providing a solid starting point for beginners and a refresher for more experienced coders.

PYME: Annual General Meeting 23/24 was a key event that brought together members to reflect on the achievements of the past term and set the direction for the upcoming year. Held at HELP International School, the meeting served as a platform to review departmental highlights, financial summaries, and key milestones from the 2023/2024 term.
Attendees were also introduced to the newly elected committee members for the 2024/2025 session, fostering a smooth transition of responsibilities and leadership. The AGM celebrated the collective efforts of the team and provided valuable insight into the organization’s growth and future plans, reinforcing our commitment to empowering aspiring tech enthusiasts.

MSTC’24: Malaysian Student Technology Conference, held at HELP International School, revolved around the theme “Renewable Energy Technologies: Solar, Wind, Hydro and Beyond.” Sponsored by Gamuda and SEDA Malaysia, the event brought together students, professionals, and industry leaders to explore the future of sustainable energy.
The day began with a keynote speech by Anthony Tan on “The Implications of Global SDG Development to Malaysia.” This was followed by two engaging panel sessions:

Panel 1: Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Chockalingam Arvind Vaithlingam, Adam Yee, and Vincent Yap shared insights on the advancements in renewable energy technologies.

Panel 2: Lorela Chia, Joel Lim Soon Yee, and Azli Haji Norali discussed technological progress and its societal implications.
The conference concluded with a Design Thinking Workshop led by Jason Chua, where participants collaborated to develop innovative solutions to real-world energy challenges.
MSTC’24 served as a vital platform for learning, innovation, and meaningful dialogue on Malaysia’s path toward a greener future.
